Cosmetics Registration Procedures and Requirements

In compliance with the Indian Cosmetics Regulations, the registration of every cosmetic product at the relevant Indian Licensing Authority (June 2013 onwards) is mandatory. The cosmetic products would be allowed in all Indian member states, once the Registration is granted. It must be noted that transitional provisions are applicable for period prior to June 2011. The cosmetic products, for this period, need to be informed to the competent authorities CDSCO.

In India, the Registration of cosmetics is an administrative procedure that requires submission of data pertaining to commercial and scientific aspects of the cosmetic product. There are standardized forms for the submission of this data requiring information on designated authorities, identity of the personnel, conclusion and summary of the safety assessment, composition and important information on product specifications.
